Duo Szabó-Flowers
Duo Szabó-Flowers consists of Hungarian cellist Ildiko Szabó and the Australian guitarist Jesse Flowers. Both acclaimed soloists in their own right, they combine technical mastery and heartfelt musicianship to create concert programmes that fully explore the rich possibilities of their ensemble. Their expressive and imaginative interpretations have lead the Badische Zeitung to write, ‘with a polished sound, outstanding musicality and temperament, the Duo dazzled the audience.’
After meeting at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 2016, they took part in the National Concerts for Young Artists 2017/18 season, resulting in 14 recitals across Germany. They have been performing together ever since, resulting in a deep shared musical understanding.
One of the distinctive features of their programmes are their unique arrangements. Their mission is to breathe new life into canonical compositions and unearth hidden gems from a wide range of musical genres. They invite their audience to experience beloved pieces and discover unknown treasures in a whole new light. Their shared interest in exploring new musical territory has led them to collaborate with contemporary composers, commissioning and premiering new works specifically written for their duo.
Duo Revelio
Duo Revelio consists of Anissa Baniahmad (flute) and Jesse Flowers (guitar). After meeting at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 2019, they took part in the National Concerts for Young Artists season, resulting in 12 recitals across Germany. Their performances have been well received by critics and audiences alike, especially their interpretation of Piazzolla’s famous Histoire du Tango.
They have a shared interest in exploring the repertoire for flute and guitar, even expanding it with new arrangements, such as that of Mozart and Bach.
Duo Amaris
Julia Spies and Jesse Flowers met as a result of their successes at the German National Music Competition in 2016. As Duo Amaris, they performed nearly 20 song recitals as part of the 61. National Concert for Young Artists series and have continued to perform regularly since then. They are constantly searching for musical textures and colours that particularly suit the intimate combination of voice and guitar, and strive to place the combination of lyrical singing and storytelling in the foreground of their programmes. In April 2020 they released their Debut-CD ‘Nachtstücke’ with the label PASCHENrecords.
